Our Lady of Apocalypse, Triumph of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth

Our Lady of Apocalypse triumphs over Satan and its Beasts.
Our Lady of Apocalypse, the Woman Clothed with the Sun

Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation describes Our Lady of Apocalypse as our bastion of hope. Our Lord Jesus Christ gives us His Blessed Mother to be our Blessed Mother (Jn 19:26-27). She does for us what she did for Him by forming us into the Body of Christ. Devote yourself to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She will protect you from the Dragon and its Beasts.

The Book of Revelation

Chapter 12

The Woman and the Dragon.

1  A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

2 She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.

3 Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems.

4 Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth.

5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.  Her child was caught up to God and his throne.

6 The woman herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God, that there she might be taken care of for twelve hundred and sixty days.

7  Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back,

8 but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.

9 The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it.

10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:

“Now have salvation and power come,

and the kingdom of our God

and the authority of his Anointed.

For the accuser of our brothers is cast out,

who accuses them before our God day and night.

11 They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb

and by the word of their testimony;

love for life did not deter them from death.

12 Therefore, rejoice, you heavens,

and you who dwell in them.

But woe to you, earth and sea,

for the Devil has come down to you in great fury,

for he knows he has but a short time.”

13 When the dragon saw that it had been thrown down to the earth, it pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.

14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she could fly to her place in the desert, where, far from the serpent, she was taken care of for a year, two years, and a half-year.

15 The serpent, however, spewed a torrent of water out of his mouth after the woman to sweep her away with the current.

16 But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth and swallowed the flood that the dragon spewed out of its mouth.

17 Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus.

18 It took its position on the sand of the sea.

Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
by Diego Velazquez (1641-1644)

The feast of the Queenship of Mary (August 22nd) celebrates the accomplishment of God’s plan for our salvation. Our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. At the Dormition and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord joins him in Heaven. Body and soul, crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth, Our Lady of Apocalypse shares in our Lord’s victory forever.

Mary is our mother and is able to do for us what she did for her son Jesus. She forms us into the body of Christ. She is with us as we journey through our own trials and tribulations in today’s world.

Dedication

Our Lady of Apocalypse

I dedicate this blog to Our Lady of Apocalypse, the Queen of Heaven and Earth

and to

St. Bernard of Clairvaux (feast August 20th)

Doctor Mellifluus

St. Bernard: Is not Mary the treasure of God? Where she is, there is also the heart of God.

and to

St. Teresa Benedicta by the Cross (feast August 9th)

Edith Stein, who understood how to face evil:

“Dear Mother, I beg you, give me permission to offer myself to the Heart of Jesus as a [sacrifice] of atonement for the sake of true peace, that the Antichrist’s sway may be broken…Every time I feel my powerlessness and inability to influence people directly, I become more keenly aware of the necessity of my own holocaust” She understood the writings of two great Carmelites: St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. She helps us to understand St. John of the Cross in her book: The Science of the Cross.

and to

St. Rose of Lima (feast August 23rd)

She gives us a simple and profound insight into the value of taking up our cross:

“Our Lord and Savior lifted up his voice and said with incomparable majesty: ‘Let all men know that grace comes after tribulation. Let them know that without the burden of afflictions it is impossible to reach the height of grace… that the gifts of grace increase as the struggles increase. Let men take care not to stray and be deceived. This is the only true stairway to paradise, and without the cross they can find no road to climb to heaven’.”

and to

Blessed Carlo Acutis (feast October 12th)

He will be the first millennial to be canonized a saint. He designed websites and promoted devotion to the Most Holy Eucharist. “To always be close to JESUS, that’s my life plan.”

Their lives, messages, writings and insights guide us to interpret current events. Through their intercession may we receive the grace and courage we need to accept our Lord’s invitation to take up our cross and follow him. 8/22/2023

Our Lady of Apocalypse and The Apostles, Past and Present

August 24th, we celebrate the feast of the Apostle Bartholomew (Nathaniel). Our Lord praised him for having no duplicity. The first scripture reading (Rev. 21:9-14) we contemplate on this feast day gives us a preview of our eternal reward for living lives of integrity. We focus on the Lamb of God. We commit to following him. St. John Chrysostom reflects on the transformation that takes place in those who are faithful to Christ. We become fearless in the face of evil, and ready to give up our lives to join Christ in his death and resurrection.

45 years ago, August 26, 1978, the “Smiling Pope John Paul I” served as our Holy Father for only 33 days. The day after his election he encouraged us towards the end of his Urbi et Orbi message:

“A dawn of hope spreads over the earth, although it is sometimes touched by sinister merchants of hatred, bloodshed, and war with a darkness which sometimes threatens to obscure the dawn. This humble Vicar of Christ, who begins his mission in fear yet in complete trust, places himself at the disposal of the entire Church and all civil society. We make no distinction as to race or ideology but seek to secure for the world the dawn of a more serene and joyful day. Only Christ could cause this dawn of a light which will never set, because he is the “sun of justice” (cf. Mal 4:2). He will indeed oversee the work of all. He will not fail us.”

The Angels

September 29th, we celebrate the feast of the Archangels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael. They each have a special role in the service of our Lord. “St. Bernard of Clairvaux recommended the invocation of Saint Michael at times of temptation and sorrow: “Whenever any grievous temptation or vehement sorrow oppresses thee, invoke thy guardian, thy leader, cry out to him, and say, ‘Lord, save us, lest we perish!’” ( Butler, Alban. Lives of the Saints, Forgotten Books ISBN 1-60506-312-6 p.372). The St. Michael prayer is very powerful and is as follows:

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle;
be our safeguard against
the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
cast down to hell Satan and the other evil spirits,
who prowl through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

I am the Alpha and the Omega (Rev 1:8) Our Lady of Apocalypse

God continues to reveal to us what we need to know for our salvation. It is always up to us to remain engaged and to pray for insight into the Word of God, who has no beginning and no end, who is the way and the truth and the life (see Jn 14:6) and wants us to be with Him forever.

The Prophet Daniel sought knowledge through prayer and fasting, and God responded in His mercy. St. John the Evangelist, exiled to the island of Patmos for his “testimony to Jesus” (Rev. 1:9), sought wisdom. God revealed great things to him about the present and the future. Our Lord is eager to help us understand our present trials; we must increase in our capacity and desire to know more (see Jn 16:12).

The Jubilee Years

2025 Jubilee Year SPES NON CONFUNDIT. “Hope does not disappoint” (Rom 5:5).

In keeping with the tradition of celebrating a jubilee year every 25 years, Pope Francis is preparing us for the extraordinary grace our Lord wants to give us to be able to receive and experience God’s mercy in 2025 and beyond. Our Lord always provides what we need to persevere in tribulation.

Pope St. John Paul II introduced the Jubilee Year of 2000

as a celebration of the beginning of the third millennium, and more importantly, as the 2000th anniversary of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is forever present to us in all of our needs. Note: scripture scholars believe that Jesus was actually born between 6-4 BC. See “Chronology of Jesus.”

“The birth of Jesus at Bethlehem is not an event which can be consigned to the past. The whole of human history in fact stands in reference to him: our own time and the future of the world are illumined by his presence. He is “the Living One” (Rev 1:18), “who is, who was and who is to come” (Rev 1:4). Before him every knee must bend, in the heavens, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim that he is Lord (cf. Phil 2:10-11). In the encounter with Christ, every man discovers the mystery of his own life.” (Incarnationis Mysterium, chpt. 1, para. 3)

2025 brings us to the 2000th anniversary

of the beginning of our Lord’s public ministry, and 2028 the 2000th anniversary of his Death and Resurrection. This event puts us into the “third day” of the End Times. Our Lord will return in glory. The second coming of Jesus Christ will bring an end to the tribulation and a beginning to The Thousand-year Reign.

“For us believers, the Jubilee Year will highlight the Redemption accomplished by Christ in his Death and Resurrection. After this Death, no one can be separated from the love of God (cf. Rm 8:21-39), except through their own fault. The grace of mercy is offered to everyone, so that all who have been reconciled may also be “saved by his life” (Rm 5:10).”(Incarnationis Mysterium, chpt. 6, para. 2)

Rest Assured by Our Lady of Apocalypse

The Book of the Prophet Daniel and the Book of Revelation provide insight about the end times. We can only understand it as we live through the time of Tribulation with the help of Our Lady of Apocalypse. God said:

“Go, Daniel,” he said, “because the words are to be kept secret and sealed until the end time. Many shall be refined, purified, and tested, but the wicked shall prove wicked; the wicked shall have no understanding, but those with insight shall. From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the desolating abomination is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed are they who have patience and persevere for the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. Go, take your rest, you shall rise for your reward at the end of days.” (Dn 12:9-13)

Our Lady of Fatima (1917) – Our Lady of Apocalypse

Our Blessed Mother, known here as Our Lady of Fatima, appeared to three shepherd children, Lucia (10), Francisco (9) and Jacinta (7) at Fatima, Portugal in 1917 over a period of 6 months, which culminated with the Miracle of the Sun. She gave three secrets to these children to help us understand the times in which we are living.

The first two secrets included a vision of Hell. Revealed in the 1930’s, they beseech us to repent of our sins by making acts of reparation. In response, we offer sacrifices of prayer, self-mortification and works of charity. Our Lady of Fatima is Our Lady of Apocalypse. She refers to herself as Our Lady of the Rosary and she specifically requested that we pray the Rosary. Additionally, we should consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart Mary, as well as ourselves. She revealed these secrets during World War I. She warned us about World War II and also warned about the annihilation of various nations in the near future if we do not repent.

The Third Secret of Our Lady of Apocalypse

The Third Secret, revealed in the year 2000, was accompanied by a Theological Commentary from Cardinal Ratzinger, then the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. On April 19, 2005, he became Pope Benedict XVI. As a preface to his guide on how to interpret the three secrets, he makes a distinction between Public Revelation (Sacred Scripture) and private revelations. He writes:

“In the private revelations approved by the Church – and therefore also in Fatima – this is the point: they help us to understand the signs of the times and to respond to them rightly in faith.” The apparitions and messages of Our Lady of Fatima can help us understand what we read in Sacred Scripture, specifically in reference to the “time of trial” that we read about in the Book of Revelation.
